Film Screenings and Lead Testing CLinic
Join us for screenings of documentary films Lead and Copper (96 min.), directed by William Hart, followed by Something in the Water (12 min.), directed by Milwaukee’s own Nateya Taylor. Both film directors, along with community organizers, will join for a panel discussion afterward.
Children’s of Wisconsin will be at the event providing free blood-lead testing.
Lead and Copper is an investigation into one of the worst public health disasters in American history, the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. Something in the Water looks at why Milwaukee’s Black communities are disproportionately being lead poisoned, and the debilitating effects it has on residents' health, with hopes to see equitable change that will heal the water and Black residents’ relationship with it.
